1. 英文「講笑」是 ”Just kidding”，不是 “Just joking”!

2. Budget 的中文解釋是「預算」，但其實它源自中世紀法語 “bowgett”，意解「皮製的袋子」

3. i.e. Vs e.g. :　i.e. 是為前句解釋時用到，而 e.g. 則為前句舉例時用

4. 菲律賓英文是 “Philippines” ，但菲律賓人卻是 “Filipino” 而非 “Philippino”

5. “Slip” 是「滑」，“tongue” 是「舌頭」，但 “slip of the tongue” 卻不是口甜舌滑，而是「講錯話」！

6. “Bug” 是「蟲」，“bear” 是「熊」，而 “bugbear” 是「虛構出來的怪物」！

7. “Either” 之後要用 “or”， “neither” 之後要用 “nor”！

8. “Pair” 是單數，故「一對」是 “a pair of”，而非 “a pairs of”

9. 一條褲子英文是 “a pair of pants” / ”a pair of trousers” 而非 “a pant” / ”a trouser”

10. “Advice” 是名詞，指意見，動詞是 ”advise”（給予意見）

11. “A和B之間” 應寫為 “between A and B” 而非 “between A to B”

12. “Guy” 是男子的稱謂，並不可用作女生身上　例： “He is a nice guy.”

13. 句子不應以 “because” 或 “and” 作開頭

14. 如文章是以數目字開頭的，必須以英文串出數目字　例：“Three books are found.”

1. “A red-letter day” 是十分特別的一天

2. “Alien” 是外星人，“Alienist” 卻是精神病醫生！

3. “Computer” 這個字其實在 16 世紀中期已出現，有考慮，計算的意思

4. LOL 是 laughing out loud 的縮寫，和我們寫的 ”哈哈” 一樣，在較輕鬆的書寫（如 chat room）上會常用到

5. “A piece of cake” 除了可解作一件蛋糕外，也可解作一件容易的事！

6. “Give me a ring” 是叫你打電話給我！

7. “Eat one’s words” 不是 ”食言”，而是 ”承認錯失”

8. “I am depending on you” = 我依靠你了　“I am including you in something” = 我把你算在內了

9.　“If something is “just around the corner”, it is going to happen very soon.

10. 不要被 “small” 此字誤導，“a small fortune” 是一筆很大的金錢數目喔！

11. If I have my “hands full”, I am very busy

12. “I ran into you ” 是遇見你，“ I ran away from you ” 是逃避你！

13. 對著好笑的事而要強忍著笑聲，你就要 “keep a straight face” 了！

14. “我十分高興“ 除了可說 “I am very happy” 外，亦可以說 “I am over the moon！”
